2023 IMAGE COMPETITION

This year is the inaugural launch of our image competition. Anyone within the UCD school of medicine or medical sciences can enter the competition for a chance to win a €200 cash prize and be featured on the cover of this year’s edition of the journal! There will also be a range of other prizes available to 2nd and 3rd places (TBA). Examples of images include ones similar to that above - a confocal microscope image showing immune cells interacting with melanoma tumour cells in mice treated with immune checkpoint inhibitor therapy - or any other creative interpretation on the theme of ‘Modern Medicine’.

There are no rules, other than images must NOT be taken within a clinical setting (i.e. in hospitals, outpatient clinics, GP offices etc). This is to ensure patient confidentiality is not breached. Other than this, be creative to have the best chance at receiving first prize!

Entrant’s images will also be featured at our launch event for the 10th Edition of the UCD SMJ and be featured on our Instagram and Twitter pages for promotional purposes. Note, drawings will not be accepted and should be submitted for peer review for publication in the journal itself. Multiple submissions are accepted.
